Workshops provide employment for Bubbs, heating substances such as shaped clay into pottery, or melting metals into useful alloys such as bronze or steel. These function like any ancient human forges or potteries.
Do not build these until you run out of space for farms.
Combined with the Apprenticeships economy type, the Workshop becomes incredibly powerful mid to late game.
The Workshop preceeded the Farm as the sole source of energy.
Before the Workshop was introduced, energy was granted by Houses and enemy kills.
